Baby on the Way

Two lines on a pregnancy test, and the world just changes.

Back in August (August 4, our anniversary, to be exact), I casually asked Shak to pick up a pregnancy test, since my period was late.
"Seriously?" he said.
"Yeah, I mean, it's probably nothing, but I just want to check..."

I did check, and then I checked again. Two lines on a pregnancy test.

A life growing inside me, and I didn't even know!

I walked out of the bathroom. Shak asked, "So, how'd it go..." and I told him, "I think we're pregnant!"
"Really!"
"Yep, I think so!"

And then he high fived me with me a big smile. So typical Shak. No screaming, no tears, no disbelief or incredulous looks...and that was that.

The first page of a new chapter in our lives. Now we're almost two months away from the due date (31 weeks), and there is still so. much. to. be. done.

But even though our world has changed, we are excited and ready for the changes.

Bring it on, baby Victoria!

Humidity = bane of my hair's existence

All my curly-haired buds out there know that humidity is not your friend. Heck, I think even straight-haired, wavy-haired, and every-other-haired know this (except maybe no-haired...but even then, humidity is not too fab).
I have naturally curly hair. Nobody knows how or why, because both of my parents have straight hair, and 7 of their 9 children also have straight hair. Just one brother and I got the curly gene and personally, I love it!
However, as I've pointed out, nobody loves humidity for their hair. I'm just gonna make a blanket statement on that one.
A few days ago I decided to try what my hairstylist recommended, which is to do a BLOW OUT. A blow out means blow drying your hair straight while it's still wet using a big barrelled boar bristled brush. (say that 5 times fast)
1. this was my first attempt. After 45 minutes, only my bangs and a few pieces of hair were dry and straight. I quit and blow dried the rest of my hair. Result: poof.
2. I then straightened my hair using my sister's flat-iron (which i absolutely LOVE), which took another 45 minutes. result: GORGE! even for me, i was shocked at how silky, smooth, and healthy my hair was. and guess what? it STAYED STRAIGHT UNTIL THE NEXT DAY! I don't know if some of you can relate, but usually when I straighten my hair, it's all bent and wavy by the next day. Not this time! I can only assume it's from the half blow-out and Merissa's legit straightener.
3. The next day I decided to curl it using big barrel hot curlers, which look TOTALLY different from my usual curls. I looked up a tutorial on youtube (a plethora of beauty knowledge, fyi), and went for it.
4. result: beauteous curls! love! i look like carrie underwood! until i go outside....HUMIDITY STRIKES AGAIN! My hair was stick straight after an hour outside, and starting to poof. Which is quite odd....my hair usually holds curl very well.
1. POOF
2. Straight as a pin!

3. rolled up

4. curly wurly!

Moral? Hairspray. Lots, and LOTS, of hairspray. Also, humidity is not my friend.
